Phila Sonke funds affordable and innovative private healthcare providers
who want to improve the lives and dignity of purpose-driven disabled people in low-income communities, in order to see them return to being able and healthy members of their communities in all the roles that they may fill.
The vision is that all disabled people in South Africa are able to access the healthcare
and wellness support they need to live their best and most productive lives with dignity
We, at Phila Sonke Wellness Initiative, aim to meet three of the United Nation’s 17 sustainable development goals: promote good health and wellbeing, encourage decent work as well as economic growth and reduce inequality.
We connect accredited private healthcare providers with disabled individuals and fund their broad healthcare rehabilitation needs. This may include the provision of the following services on a low-cost basis: medical management, nursing assistance, home-based care and visits, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy services.
This can be achieved by partnering with generous corporate donors, government and municipal representatives who are able to dedicate significant funds to patient programmes. However, everyone is able to make a difference by donating and enhancing the public healthcare facilities that are available to the communities.
Through this CSI-supported funding model, the lives of disabled individuals are being restored and patients are even able to return to their workplaces and schools respectively. By eliminating the challenges associated with caring for a disabled person, we are able to bring a new quality of life to families and communities.
We are a registered non-profit company, with a level 1 B-BBEE certification and recognition as a public benefit organisation with SARS
Phila Sonke Wellness Initiative aims to bridge the gap between public and private healthcare services, supplying these vital services to all who need it. In order to do this, the organisation needs help from the public, corporates and medical professionals alike.
To provide these healthcare services to those who have suffered debilitating trauma, the organisation relies on donations. These funds are collected to pay for the costly services, equipment and treatments provided by healthcare professionals – necessities for the recovery of the patients.
Healthcare professionals who are willing to offer their services on a low-cost basis are also a vital component to the success of this work. Providing these services to those who can’t afford or reach them is what facilitates creating wellness in communities.
Equipment is essential to the recovery of patients. Without it, recovery may be more difficult. Donations in the form of equipment for physical rehabilitation would allow the organisation to maximize patients’ results and get them back to a new normal faster and with ease.
Get involved to make a difference in communities that need it.
